Practical Help, Christian Values with H. David Chaney at
Hope Counseling Center
Maybe you are overwhelmed or tired or angry. Something bad may have happened to you and you are having difficulty coping. Your marriage hasn’t been what it could be in a long time. Maybe you are addicted to something and you can’t stop. Someone you loved very much has died and you feel all alone. Whatever the issue, there are better ways to cope with the problems of life.
My approach begins with listening to your concerns and questions. Hearing your desires and goals about how you would like to respond to the adversities of life and then introducing you to concepts and strategies designed to help you respond to life’s problems more effectively.
The truth is everyone has problems but the quality of our life depends on how we respond to those problems. When we feel bad the natural reaction is to look for something or someone to help us feel better. Food, drugs, sex and money will give an instant relief to our pain but unfortunately that relief doesn’t last long. And in fact, it leaves us with an additional problem. We now become dependent on something artificial to make us feel good and that never lasts.
Real hope and change comes with better strategies to enable you to change the things you have the ability to change rather than spending so much time wishing or demanding things outside of your control will change.
